Sorry that there's no new post this week. Even bloggers need some time off! My kids have been on vacation since last Thursday and we've been in Florida visiting family, getting some sun, and celebrating my 30th birthday! I'll be back to regular posting next week and should begin filming the first couple episodes of Season 2 in the next few weeks.

Why is there such hatred towards Orthodox and Chasidic Jews? As I pursue becoming observant, I have received many negative comments about the Orthodox, especially the Chasidic, from fellow Jews in particular. Why is this? I don't understand. Can you shed some light on this.
Thanks,
Shelley

Here's an article I just wrote for The Jewish Star about the recent slew of scandals in the Orthodox community.
Don't Save New Year's Resolutions for Just Once a Year
Anyone who started coming to JewintheCity.com in the last year probably missed one of my favorite pieces from a couple years ago about why the American concept of once a year New Year's resolutions isn't frequent enough according to Jewish thought. If you have seen it before, it's still a good thing to be reminded of every now and again.
