Thanks for your comment, Adirah. I agree with you that any Jew acting inappropriately makes the rest of us look bad, but it’s not only that Orthodox Jews look more Jewish, it’s that we’re supposed to be representing the Torah which makes the Torah look bad and makes Orthoodx Jews seem like hypocites. Also, although Jews are small in number and not everyone in the world has ever encountered one, Orthdox Jews are even fewer in number and even less people have encountered us which means all they can base their opinions on is what they read about us or see about us in the media.

I totally agree with you, Alison, with one minor change. Whenever ANY Jew acts poorly it reflects on us all – although I take your point that ‘frum’ Jews are more ‘obvious’.

Thank you so much for your positive approach. I am so fed up of hearing people bash religious Jews without giving any perspective of what goes on the majority of the time.
